Martha Stewart!

Before Christmas, we were selected to attend and be part of the Martha Stewart Show! (Similar to This Morning?)

And today was the day that we went! We headed down to 23rd Street, and lined up with the other housewives and 40somethings who watch this show on daily basis and waited to get in at 12.30pm for a 2pm show.

The tickets were free, and we were selected from our application. She does 6 shows a week so I think most people get in if you want to.

Each episode includes several segments related to cooking, crafts, gardening, interior design and other topics related to arts and crafts. The program also features celebrity guests. Not exactly Sam's cup of tea, but hey he enjoyed it all the same, and there were many other dragged along boyfriends and husbands in the audience too!

Today was the 'Bag' special, we all had to take our favourite bag, of course Hello Kitty made her TV Debut. the first section included the game, 'Whats in the bag' audience members had to see if they had specific items in their bags...we had; the 'foreign money' - A £20 Rosina is hanging on to, the 'pack of cards' - Solitare on the iPad and the 'spare pair of shoes'- Ballet shoes for our class later!

2nd section included making a vinyl lunch bag, complete with sewing machine! 3rd section was cooking, 'a cauliflower steak, roasted peppers and couscous', Section 4 brought in some models with the latest designer bags, 5th section bought us some 'bag' tips (below) and the 6th ended with a re run of 'whats in the bag' and credits.

Each section bought a free gift for every audience member, the famous Stand bookstore canvas book bag complete with pencil case (perfect for MA reading material!), a $25 gift voucher for quilt.com, a L.L Beno ($50) tote bag (perfect for the grocerys/beach), a reusable cake piping bag (god i've wanted one of these for ages, to perfect my cupcakes), a inner washing machine mesh bag for delicates and a book on bags! For every audience member!

Afterwards we grabbed some lunch then headed back to BDC for ballet and contemporary til 10.30pm.
A very different day!
Oh I forgot to say...we got front row seats!

Some of the Bag tips:

1. Unripe avocado? Put it in a brown bag with an apple for a day !
2. Want to get the skin of roasted peppers? Boil it in the bag that you got the peppers from the supermarket in, then use kitchen roll to peel it off without it going on your fingers!
3. Lacey delicates getting ruined? Put them in a mesh bag in the wash!
