#2 The Pet Parade

Advertised as;

On Sunday, from 1 to 4pm, the City's furry and feathered friends will strut their stuff at the annual Pet Parade at Hudson River Park's Pier 84, sponsored by Friends of Hudson River Park and the West 44th Street Better Block Association. Clothe your critter in a Halloween costume (or one of his or her favorite outfits) and compete for Best Dressed Pet. Awards will be given in other categories as well, like Most Exotic Pet and Best Pet Trick. All animals are welcome, from Great Danes to goldfish and everything in between.

Naturally, we had to go, and of course, the dogs, cats, hamsters, turtles and rabbits, didn't fail to entertain along with their costumes and owners costumes! Our favourite has to be the young girl dressed as a Taco and her Pomeranian dressed as one too! Dog coloured contact lenses are an questionable extra too?

There are so many dogs here in NY, in a way we feel sorry for them, constantly at the end of a leash, walking one block then stopping then another, but it seems that everydog is pulling their owners to the park, as soon as the dog senses the open space and grass, its full steam ahead! An interesting addition to parks here are the 'Dog runs' enclosed sandy areas for the dogs to run free and play!

Just a few of our favourite competitors....
