Week 1...

Week One, our new student orientation, has come to an end, 12 class card is complete and body feels good...we're in a good place, no 'first year walk'...or maybe because we've had those aches and pains before...our threshold is higher!!

Orientation activities have included Self Defence, Alignment and our Placement assessment, but most importantly getting to know our peers in the course, some beautiful dancers and extraordinary people all grateful for the opportunity they are within. The language barriers have been overcome with laughter, and Rosina has practiced her french...! 'J'ai mal al la tete, ou est le docteur?' (Personal Joke) Also got to know our course director Bonnie, with her inspirational speeches and quotes;

'the magic door'
'happy to be here, ready to work'
'have a pen'
'be on time'
'clapter'
'image is key'
'be nice'
'attitude and gratitude'

We have taken classes this week,  Brice Mousett, intense balletic contemporary; Al Blackstone, Theatre; Wes Veldink, Lyrical Contemporary ; Miss Stavro, Russian Ballet; ASSAF Flexibility with Ropes; Joshua Pelatsky, straight from LA (insane!!!); Tracey Stansfield, Contemporary; Shelia Barker, Modern; Jermaine Brown, Hiphop and Spex, Hiphop. Rosina has overcome her fear of hiphop and actually quite enjoys it after everyones support during the assesment, seeing Sam and Malcolm cheering me on really helped! We've been inspired by our other students special skills, breaking dance Benoit, Vogueing Maria, Legs Catrina, Classical Indian dance from Maria Roy, Tapping Dannielle, Fouette'ing Malcolm...we could go on!!!

Next week begins our 12 classes that we choose, 5 concentration, 2 ballet, 3 diverse, 2 elective, rehearsals for the performance project and a master class in Hula?! We also have our advisor meetings to help us choose the most efficient schedule. Sam has chosen to major in Hiphop split with Theatre and Rosina, has chosen 'Jazz'.

We have nothing planned tomorrow, except a lie-in, getting up at 5.45-6am (Although sparing a thought for Maggie from New Jerseys 4.30am wake up call) has taken its toll on us, its been a long while since we've stood in the shower, not sure if we are awake or not! Good old memories of Performers and LSC!!!

Back to the studio on Sunday to learn Cheerleading routine for Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park!

Missing Kate E Hanna tho, due to stupid technical difficulties of Skype, cant wait for her to be out here though with us :D
